Showcase your work on our GNS website

Web stories, research project pages, and other website content

Our website is our online ‘shop window’. It is a sleek and modern channel to share our research, its impact, and its value to Aotearoa and the world. It brings visibility to our work, showcases the people behind our science, and demonstrates our connections, reach, and influence in the wider science system.

What are my options on the website?

Overview and options

There are several different types of pages on our website, including news stories, research project pages, and science and corporate topic pages. The communications team can help you decide which is right for your science or story. We also share stories on the GeoNet website.

News and event stories

The news and events page features on our website home page, bringing together our stories, videos, events, media releases and more. Our news stories share topical or timely information, like recently published research, a project milestone, or event promotion. The news items feature eye-catching pull quotes, dynamic number counters, embedded videos, links to other related content and stories across the website and options to link to staff profiles.

Research project pages

Research pages are a dynamic home for communicating about your project and providing links to publications, related data and resources, media coverage, and more. These pages also give you a place to post updates for your stakeholders – anything from announcing a new team member, to sharing milestones.

Science topic pages

Our science topic pages organise our work into different science areas across our four themes. There are also pages for the foundational and cross theme work we do in vision mātauranga, social sciences and data science. These pages are designed to be useful to all users – from students with science projects, to experts looking to connect and collaborate.

Data and resources page

Data is at the very heart of what we do. It is the key input and output of our science, and our website showcases it in a way that is useful, usable, and used. Data and resources pages on our website can be easily filtered and searched, ensuring they can be found - even by people who aren’t sure what they’re looking for!
